**Entries need to be emailed by 4pm on the last day of each competition month.**
Step 2. Wait for the Judging Panel
Now you need to sit back and relax and wait for our judging panel to do their stuff. We hope to have all classes judged within a few days of the closing date. The results will be posted on our website and Facebook page.
For competition classes rosettes will be awarded from 1st - 10th place. The winner of each class will also receive an excellent prize for their dog.

What our Judges are Looking for ….
To win a Prize Paws class you need to think outside the box. Your image has to stand out against all the other images that our judges are viewing. So here are a few tips to help you get your image noticed.
1. Firstly read the class brief. It’s here that we leave the clues to what the judges are looking for. If a class asks for a head shot with the dog looking directly at the camera and you send in a full body shot with your dog in profile, you are not going to win the class. The brief is your most important tool to understand the judging criteria.
2. Prize Paws is about showing off your dog and your creativity. We don’t want professional standard images but you're more likely to be placed if you dog is clearly visible, your image is good quality and you've had a bit of a think about composition and background. If your dog is a teeny, tiny dot or your photo is out of focus you’re less likely to have your image chosen. To be in with a chance of being placed in a class, images need to be good quality. We are a photo competition website. It's your photo that will win you the prize. Make sure it looks great.
3. Think about how you can make your image stand out from the crowd. Depending on the class you're entering you may use an interesting camera angle, in some classes a fun prop may be your pathway to success. Make sure the background of your photo isn't full of things that will take the judges eye away from your dog.
4. Prize is a dog photography competition. Blurred images are unlikely to impress the judges. To get a good idea of what standard you need to win a class, pop over to our results page and see what images have been placed in previous months. It will give you a good idea of what you need to win.
We do get a lot of entries each month so when you win a rosette you should feel super, duper proud of yourself and on the same note if you don't win you shouldn't feel disheartened.
Here’s what we do to make the judging as fair as possible.
1. We don’t give our judges any informations about you or your dog. All they are given is their class brief and photos in front of them. Each of the photos has a number and not a name. They have no idea whose dog they are judging.
2. All the judges are people i know and trust. They take their task of judging very seriously because they know how important their role is. We rotate the classes each person judges and change our judges often. The only classes that don’t change are the ones which are judged by our sponsors. However, they are still bound by the judging criteria.
3. All our judges are given a list of criteria for the class that they are judging and they are asked to bear this in mind when selecting their winners. This is the same brief that you are given when you enter the class.
If you have any questions about our judging process or suggestions please don't hesitate to get in touch. It's incredibly important that we keep our judging as fair as possible.
